Ancient Egypt takes over Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome for Lilytopia

Lilytopia at Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome. PHOTO: GARDENS BY THE BAY | Feast your eyes on more than 7,000 lilies at Gardens by the Bay’s (GBTB) latest seasonal floral display, Lilytopia. Situated in the GBTB Flower Dome, it draws inspiration from the nature and mythology of Ancient Egypt and is presented in collaboration with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Singapore. Highlights include the Victoria amazonica and Victoria cruziana, which are giant water lilies. These were grown from seeds by the GBTB team over the last 1½ years. Visitors will also find other plants closely associated with daily life in Egypt, such as the papyrus, which is thought to have been used to manufacture paper in Ancient Egypt as far back as 3,000BC. Anchoring the floral display are sculptures and architectural facades – look out for statues of Egyptian deities, including Ra and Thoth. Where: Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Drive |
