Journal of Brain-Computer Interfaces is an international quarterly academic journal published bilingually in Chinese and English. The journal is supervised by Tianjin Publishing & Media Group and jointly sponsored by the Haihe Laboratory of Brain-Computer Interaction and Human-Machine Integration and Tianjin Science and Technology Press Co., Ltd. Distributed worldwide, the journal is dedicated to providing an open and professional academic communication platform for researchers in biomedical engineering, neural engineering, rehabilitation engineering, electronic information science, clinical medicine, and related fields, with the goal of promoting scientific innovation and interdisciplinary integration in the field of brain-computer interfaces.
As a cutting-edge technology integrating biological intelligence and machine intelligence, brain-computer interface (BCI) technology has become a key area of global scientific and technological competition and an important driver of emerging productive forces. For a long time, research achievements in this field have been scattered across various journals, lacking a dedicated and systematic publication platform. To address this need, Journal of Brain-Computer Interfaces has established an integrated content framework combining “core technologies, applied research, and emerging frontiers.” The journal focuses on fundamental theories, system design, signal processing, neural modulation, and other core technologies in brain-computer interfaces, while also exploring their practical applications in rehabilitation medicine, neurological disease treatment, augmented reality, and related scenarios. In addition, the journal will regularly publish special issues dedicated to emerging topics and research hotspots, encouraging in-depth academic discussion and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Editorial Board consists of more than 30 distinguished scholars from nearly 20 leading universities and research institutions worldwide, covering multiple frontier research directions in brain-computer interfaces. Through high-quality academic content, internationalized publishing strategies, and modern communication platforms, the journal aims to attract outstanding researchers from around the world and become an authoritative international journal in the field of brain-computer interfaces that is “rooted in China and oriented toward the world.”
The journal’s main sections include novel neural signal sensing theories and detection methods, bioinspired neural engineering, next-generation high-throughput brain-computer interaction technologies, fundamental human-machine integration technologies, core device development and translational applications, among others. The journal is committed to promoting academic exchange, advancing scientific innovation, supporting talent cultivation, and contributing to the future development of human-machine intelligence integration.
